Cleaning Your Bird Feeders of Mold
by S Novosat

If you notice mold on your bird feeders, a good cleaning is in order. Scrub the feeders thoroughly with 1 part bleach to 10 parts water, using a stiff brush. Spray off and reapply the bleach/water mixture, allowing it to remain on your feeders for 10 minutes or more. Rinse thoroughly. When cleaning hummingbird or oriole feeders, be sure to clean the feeder ports as well. They can easily get a black mold on them, especially in the Summer months. You may need to disassemble the ports in order to get them totally clean. Allow the feeder to completely dry before refilling it. Re-filling it too soon will result in soggy, moldy food.
